Beginning today, I will be starting a series, where I shall have a new word with its meaning daily. This will help in building vocabulary. It shall be known as ” Word of the day”.
Avuncular
means
of relating to, or
characteristic of an uncle.
Aural means of the ears For mouths, it would be oral; for lights, it would be auroral.
Titanism means Spirit of revolt or defiance against social conventions. You may read more about titanism here
Camaraderie means mutual trust and friendship among people who spend a lot of time together.
Spange means to collect spare change, either from couches, passerby’s on the street or any numerous other ways and means. Jimmy does not have enough for the show, he will have to spange.
Untoward means not favourable “Barring untoward circumstance,” said the judge, “we’ll have a decision by week’s end.”
Bellwether means trend leader This has nothing to do with weather. A weather is a sheep, which may wear a bell when leading the flock.
